VALENTINE’S DAY GOBLET WEEKEND
February is Blackfish month and on Valentine’s Day weekend 29 anglers took to the waters in pursue of the Goblet fish. Saturday was a bit windy and overall fishing conditions were only average with outside fishers struggling with the large swell.
Blackfish were hard to find with most chasing the goblet moving spots many times trying to find a school. John and Janine Suthern both caught good size Blackfish with John winning the Goblet with a 44.7cm Blackfish. Jan Williamson won Ladies Rock and Beach with a 43cm Salmon, while Steve Tomin won the men’s Rock & Beach with a 55.4cm Salmon. Blake Paul won the juniors with his 37cm Bream. Total of 64 fish were recorded at the Valentine’s Day measure in.
Mystery fish was Flounder and won by Paul Brown for the second month in a row. The Turkey award was again won by our president Neil Alexander for parking his boat and car between two no parking signs at the boat ramp, winning the turkey award is getting to be a bit of a habit for Neil!.
