Fourteen Fishing Club members hit the road to Eden despite the wet and stormy weather that would have put most people off traveling.   Eden treated our members to a BBQ on Friday night where Tuross & Eden Club Members were divided into their nominated teams with two members from each club per team. Weather on Saturday was extremely windy with only one Tuross boat venturing out at Two Fold Bay, Gav, Robbo and Jeanie the rest fished at Pambula River where some good sized shovel nose sharks were caught. After fishing in such windy conditions the Eden Club put on a great dinner with plenty of yummy deserts a great night was ha by with lots of fish stories. Raffles on the night were mainly won by Tuross members, Eden won the club scoring with Pam Alexander and Bruce Kennedy on the wing team.  Sunday saw two boats venture out with Carol, Max, David and Alex (member from Sydney) all catching good size Kingfish. The Club is now looking forward to our next friendly completion with Eden. Goblet Weekends
John McNeill first Goblet Entry

John McNeill first Goblet Entry

October Goblet Fish was Flathead, John McNeil with his first entry to the monthly competition won the Goblet prize with a 68.1 Flattie congratulations great going John. Sixteen Anglers took to the water with 67 fish caught and submitted for judging. We had three ladies, eleven men and two juniors enter with  total of  22 Flathead caught. Most fish were entered by photo to be measured. As this was the first BBQ that the new measuring system was used, Scott Paul helped John Suthern to scrutinize the entries and enter the lengths but all went smoothly.   Extra effort was put in to displaying all the sizes and sores on a large board for all to see.

Turkeys

Turkeys

Turkeys Turkeys are not only good to eat at Christmas but at the last two measure in’s we heard some excellent Turkey stories.   There was the one with Neil and Pam Alexander returning from their holiday and realized they gave the house key to the house /chook sitter to use and forgot to take their key and had to find the house sitter at 10pm at night to get in to their house, or the person who after catching a good size fish taking photos on his phone somehow lost all of the photos, now that’s a different slant on the ‘one that got away’. Eden weekend saw one lady forgetting to take her rod and our President Neil Alexander forgot to take the bait both of these people were travelling in the same car and Neil had shared the Turkey of the Month award last month with Tammy Paul who between them spilt her drink over her wedding dress and this month Tammy’s husband Scott won the award for after only a few weeks of marriage Scott lost his Wedding Ring, however the Turkey of the year went to Ross Parker when putting his boat in the water at Moroya his car rolled back and ended up in the water, something we all dread happening and it can happen to even the most experienced boating people.

Presentation Night November 28 was our annual presentation night for 2015 with the theme of Fishing Days are our Happy Days with over 60 members enjoying a great night of fun, trivia, guessing competition and great entertainment. Janine Campbell worked hard to ensure this night was enjoyable for all and Rachael Kennedy made a great Marilyn Monroe keeping us entertained throughout the night.

The guess the baby and trivia competitions were hotly contested but of course what the night was really about was who won trophies some of the popular wins for the night were for largest of Species Max Castle for his club record breaking Flounder, Tom Webster for largest Gurnard and Paul Brown for his Drummer to name just a few. Rod Federer and Paul Brown shared the Perpetual Trophy for variety of fish caught.  The most Consistent Fisherwoman and Fisherman was again a family affair with awards going to Linda & Eric Saberton. John Suthern’s hard work in developing ou new measuring system ‘it’s all about the length’ was recognised with a special award congratulations John and thank you, John spent many months researching and working out this system to make sure that it was fair for everyone other clubs have shown interest in how we ‘measure in’ and looking at doing the same.
Max Castle & Jo Starling Patron's Awards

Max Castle & Jo Starling Patron's Awards

Three of our committee members were recognised for their time and efforts working for the club, Jo Starling and Max Castle both receiving Patron’s Awards, Jo and Max are passionate about the club and work hard on behalf of all our members their awards were very well deserved. Another popular win was for Club person of the year and this went to Janine Campbell our Catering Officer who consistently works hard to provide great food for all our BBQ’s and other events.  Janine not only provides great food she is first to put her hand up for sub committees and to volunteer to help the Club at all evens. It is always good to see the juniors out fishing and winning prizes so having ten juniors & sub juniors receive Encouragement Awards is fantastic congratulations to the following juniors / sub juniors;
