Fishing Safety Over ANZAC Weekend

Posted on Apr 22, 2016

Fish safely over the holiday weekend Bureau of Meteorology forecasts a cold front will bring a fresh southerly change to the NSW south coast late on Thursday, extending to the central coast during Friday and to the far north coast by Saturday. Winds will be strong at times through the second half of Friday and during Saturday. Winds will steadily turn southeast to north easterly during Sunday and Monday as another high pressure system moves over the southern Tasman Sea. Seas will start to build on Friday, 2 to 3 metres on most parts of the coast, getting to 3 metres on the entire coast by Saturday. A mixed up, combined ground swell and wind swell will start from the east on Friday, only a metre or so, but will move around from the south on Saturday, getting up to about 2 metres. At this stage it looks like conditions ease off a bit Sunday and Monday. Junky swell conditions combined with strong to near gale force winds could be hazardous for activities such as boating and rock fishing. Check local conditions through the weekend by going to BOM district forecasts at http://www.bom.gov.au/nsw/forecasts/map.shtml Stay safe, always watch the local conditions before fishing and never turn your back on the ocean.
