The August fishing competition’s weekend target fish ( Goblet ) was Morwong.
Typical August weather made fishing very comfortable in all areas for this weekend. Offshore anglers had flat calm seas with some anglers even venturing out through the Tuross Bar to chase the goblet.
The fishing, however, was still slow. Twelve anglers entered fish. These anglers consisted of two ladies, nine men and one Junior. Collectively, they caught forty one fish. Nine Morwong were caught for the weekend.
Three new club length records were recorded. Mathew Roberts caught a Morwong 54.1cm breaking the existing record held by Joe Starling at 53.2cm. Mathew also took home the record for Flying Gurnard catching one 46cm breaking a previous record by 5cm. Newcomer, Tim Kovacs increased his existing Groper record from 48.7 to 56.1 and secured a new record for Parrot fish catching one 42.1cm.
The mystery fish was ballot drawn as Bream and as none were recorded for the weekend, the prize will carry over to next month. There a good patrobage at the weigh in and subsequent bar-b-que.
